SoftWave Therapy
Welcome to First Team Medical Clinics!
We’re excited to partner with you on your journey to better health. This handout provides everything you need to know about SoftWave Therapy, from how it works to what you can expect during and after treatment.
What Is SoftWave Therapy?
SoftWave Therapy is an advanced, non-invasive treatment that uses broad-focused acoustic waves to stimulate healing in your body. This cutting-edge technology is designed to treat pain, reduce swelling, and activate the body’s natural repair processes.
How Does It Work?
SoftWave Therapy works by delivering acoustic waves that penetrate deep into the tissues. These waves:
- Stimulate Cellular Repair: Activate the body's natural healing mechanisms by encouraging cell regeneration and repair.
- Promote Blood Flow: Enhance circulation to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the injured area.
- Reduce Inflammation: Help break down inflammation and swelling for faster recovery.
- Target Problem Areas: Acoustic waves identify areas of dysfunction and stimulate healing where it’s needed most.
Why Does It Work?
SoftWave Therapy is scientifically proven to trigger biological responses in the body, including:
- Increased Stem Cell Activity: Encouraging the body to repair itself.
- Pain Modulation: Reducing pain signals for immediate relief.
- Enhanced Healing: Supporting long-term recovery through improved tissue function.
What to Expect During Treatment
- Comfortable & Non-Invasive: The therapy is performed on the surface of the skin with no needles, surgery, or medications.
- Sensation: You may feel a tapping or tingling sensation. Some areas might feel extra tender, which is normal and indicates that healing is being activated.
What to Expect After Treatment
Pain Relief
- Many patients experience immediate relief after the first session. Relief may last a few hours to a few days, and longer with additional treatments.
Swelling Reduction & Soreness Relief
- Swelling may decrease, and soreness may improve, promoting greater comfort and recovery.
Improved Movement & Circulation
- Expect enhanced range of motion and better blood flow to the treated area.
Temporary Reaction
- Few will experience mild redness, soreness, or swelling in the treated area, which typically subsides within 24-48 hours.
Cellular Healing
- Healing continues at the cellular level for 8–12 weeks, supporting ongoing recovery and repair.
Treatment Frequency & Plan Discussion
- The number of visits needed will depend on your specific condition and how your body responds to treatment.
- Your provider will discuss your personalized treatment plan after assessing your condition and progress. This plan will outline the recommended number of sessions and expected outcomes.
Aftercare Instructions
To maximize the benefits of your treatment:
- Rest: Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours post-treatment to allow your body to heal.
- Avoid Anti-Inflammatory Medications: If possible, do not take Ibuprofen, Aleve, or similar medications for the next 24 hours to support your body’s natural inflammatory response.
- Skip Ice or Heat Therapy: Avoid applying ice or heat to the treated area for the next day.
- Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help your body recover.
